None of our work together should hurt. I address each layer of tissue—from the outermost to the deepest— at the rate that your body lets me in. By working with your nervous system and fascia, we are able to get to very sensitive depths without creating pain. It is essential to me that we listen to your body’s “yes’s” and “no’s” while you are on my table.

All of my work comes from a trauma-informed and body-neutral approach, and is queer & trans affirming. My practice is heavily influenced by techniques from myofascial facilitation, Trager, visceral manipulation, craniosacral, unwinding, and structural decompression.

Scar Work

Scars big and small can have a profound effect on the way our systems function—our fascia, lymphatic and cardiovascular systems are all impacted when scar tissue forms. I use a gentle, non-invasive approach to treat scar tissue that has formed due to injuries, surgeries, or inflammation.

Intra-Oral Massage

Intra-oral massage (meaning work done inside the mouth) can be incredibly helpful for headaches, TMJ issues, neck pain, ear pain, and so much more. I often incorporate this into treatment sessions—with your permission, of course!

Prenatal & Postpartum Massage

(for pregnant and recently pregnant bodies) My work as a doula in years past inspired me to become a massage therapist. This gentle, supportive massage helps to address the monumental changes that pregnant bodies endure, and can safely treat injuries or facilitate relief for sore and tired muscles.

CBD Oil Massage

By adding CBD oil to a session, we can coax tight muscles into relaxation far more easily, and ease soreness in muscles and joints. Topical CBD is non-psychoactive (meaning it won’t get you high). I use a high-quality, full-spectrum oil made locally by a female-owned company.

Breast/Chest Massage

Attention to this complex area requires special training, and can help with a variety of issues such as promoting lactation, reducing engorgement and treating clogged ducts, reduction of scar tissue from surgery or injury, swelling and pain due to hormonal changes or newly developing breast tissue, and reduction of back pain. This is not just for people who have breasts!

Lymphatic Facilitation

This technique is used for speeding the healing process of recent injuries, reducing swelling and bruising, and improving the function of the lymph and nervous systems. Regular lymphatic facilitation treatments are excellent for treating insomnia. I incorporate this into many of my treatment massages. *** Please note that I am not able to treat Primary Lymphedema.

ABOUT ME

Sarah Hopkins, LMT MA60848755

Every single person is capable of and deserving of healing. Long before studying massage, my time as a doula and my background in dance instilled me with a sense of awe at the body’s inherent wisdom and incredible power. We human beings are so fragile, yet so resilient!

I specialize in subtle, pain-free treatment work, following where the physical and energetic bodies take me in order to work with the whole being. There is something sacred and rich in the stillness before change. I provide a container for the body to have those still moments, to pause and listen, and to know itself better.

Whether you seek treatment for an injury or chronic issue, or you desire a pause from the pressures of daily life, I would be honored to join you on your journey.

APPOINTMENTS & FEES

I open my books on a monthly basis. If you’d like to receive emails letting you know when my books open, subscribe here.

There is an elevator from the ground floor. I keep my table fairly high, and have a stepstool for folks to climb up more easily. If you have any additional accessibility needs, please let me know before our session and I’ll adjust my setup accordingly.

Sanitation and Masking

I wear a mask during all sessions. I keep a high-quality air purifier running in my space and sanitize thoroughly between appointments. Masking is optional for patients, though may be required again based on COVID numbers in our area. Many of the people who come to me are immune compromised and it is important to me to reduce the risk of infection from COVID, flu and other illnesses.
